Getting dressed everyday should not be hard. I have found that having good basics in my wardrobe that I can rely on when I am in a styling rut can really help. Everyone is different when it comes to pieces that are their go-to but I have put together a list of my staple pieces here!
Black Jeans
The ultimate staple piece. These pair with literally anything and can be dressed up or down within seconds. Having a pair of quality black denim is a great addition to your wardrobe. Shopping for denim is hard, and I know we hate to try things on but denim is one thing that you have to try and find the right fit. All denim fits differently in my opinion. Fit the rise, wash, fit and brand that is right for you. These are my tried and true black denim from Madewell. The perfect rise and fit for my body and the wash has yet to fade even one year later.
Cream/White Pullover Sweater
I literally have three different styles to choose from and wear each of them at least once a week. There are many to choose from and many tone options. Not everyone loves a start white sweater or looks great in a yellowy/cream tone. Find the color that is best for you. You can wear this alone, with a collared shirt underneath, or with jackets over top. Blazers, denim jackets, utility jackets and more are great over the top of these shirts. There are many to choose from, so I am going to link a few below! These are all on sale today (12/11) with the code "BIGTIME".
Cable Knit | Mockneck | Pullover | V-Neck | Puff-Sleeve | Henley | Waffle Pullover
Denim Jacket
I have been a denim jacket wearer for years and years. They have been a constant go-to piece for me. They are great over a tee, sweater, with a dress, or even with joggers! There really isn't a bad time to wear a denim jacket. I personally have a medium wash and a charcoal/black wash. Both are more of an oversized fit to leave room for wearing layers underneath. Just like jeans, there are many fits, styles and washes out there to choose from. Find one that suits you, your lifestyle and your needs. I've linked a couple options below.
Simple Tees
Again, I love a white or cream colored tee. I find so many ways to wear them. I layer mine over and under dresses and jumpers all the time. They of course also layer well under jackets and can be worn with jeans, shorts and skirts. Find a color, literally any color that you like and find the different ways that you can wear them. I recently found a cream colored boxy tee that I love from Madewell and bought a second one because I love it and wear it so often!
Versatile Flats
I love brown shoes and almost exclusively wear brown shoes. I have no idea why, but I really just don't wear any other color. Flats are an easy way to dress up or a look or toss on quickly while leaving the house. I love a good mule but if that isn't something that you are in to, you can find a great round toe ballet flat, or pointed toe loafer. Again, with so many options out there, you are going to find something that you love and will wear continuously. They can be a neutral color or if you love a pop of pattern or want a brighter color, have fun with it!
My Gemma Mules are on sale today (12/11) and I wear them so very often! They also have a couple different colors.
These are just a few of my go-to staple pieces, but you can see where you can continue building with these pieces and adding around them as well. Find a color palette that is good for your skin tone, eye color and hair color and purchase colors within that to accentuate your natural beauty. Find variations of staple pieces that spice things up and add dimension. There is no 'one size fits all' box when it comes to fashion. Everyone is different and there are no real rules to follow. Find what works best for you, just as I have done for me. If you need any help with this, feel free to reach out. I am more than happy to assist you with finding and creating a wardrobe that you love!
Thanks for reading!
